Newbie (Home Assistant) guide & donation options

First of all, hello and thank you very very much for your work on the integration. It works very stably for me and I am very, very happy about the cloudless operation mode. I bought the Growatt Noah 2000 just because of your integration.

I have two suggestions:

1. I would like to support your work with a small donation. I'm sure others feel the same way. Do you have Ko-fi, buymeacoffee, or PayPal that you would like to publish here?

2. Even as an IT professional, I found it very difficult to work through the various instructions. I think that in the future, many inexperienced Home Assistant users will find your integration and face major hurdles. What are certificates, how do I apply for them, what numbers do I have to enter where?
   In this context, it would be very good to provide a simply written step-by-step guide for this target group.

Thanks for the kind words! Without the valuable work every contributor put into this project we wouldn’t be nearly as feature rich as it is right now. 😊

I never thought about this, as other contributors wouldn’t get a share from these donations.

This is a problem everyone working on the project is aware of and we had different ideas during development, like including a broker so that the user just hand over a certificate, or even including a universal „burned“ cert with private key while doing some DNS rewrite hackery to trick the Growatt device to connect with the broker.

In this context, it would be very good to provide a simply written step-by-step guide for this target group.

If you find the time we’re happy about every contribution to our docs which helps the user to better understand GroBro and how to get it running.

Thank you for your comprehensive feedback and explanations, as well as your honest words. I would still very much like to donate something to your work. Perhaps you could set up a collection pot and then pay out to everyone involved? Maybe you could treat everyone to pizza?

I have another very specific question:
There are two temperature sensors that are published. What temperature values are these? Are they temperatures calculated by the BMS or actual cell temperatures measured? In any case, they differ greatly from the values displayed via the Growatt Cloud. I look forward to your response :-)

Are you talking about NOAH sensors?
I guess these are some internal measurements, these can be something different as well. There is an ongoing issue for these values #104 - due to the nature of reverse engineering the registers it happens that values get misinterpreted or are missing completely. I suspect that the temperature from the app isn’t transmitted in the same interval like most other values.
