To configure the Enable Skills policy for GitHub Copilot Enterprise, it has to be managed at the Enterprise or Organization level in GitHub, not from within your IDE. If you’re seeing a message like “This setting is controlled by your organization's policy,” it means the setting is being enforced by an admin and your local IDE can’t override it. If you’re an Enterprise admin, go to your Enterprise account on GitHub, open the Policies section, then Copilot. From there, check the AI controls or Features area and look for the Skills setting (it may appear under Copilot Chat or Agent Skills) and enable it. If you’re an Organization admin, open your organization’s Settings, find Copilot under the Code, planning, and automation section, then go to Policies. In the Features section, you should see the option for Skills, which you can enable. If you don’t have admin access, you’ll need to ask your organization or enterprise administrator to turn it on. |
